Society says too small, too big, too weak, too strong, too poor, too rich … we just aren’t good enough. And it is true, we are not good enough in our strength! Ephesians 1:19-20 says, I pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe Him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead … We ARE more than enough with Christ as our power and strength!
Launched at Mariners Church Huntington Beach, Stepping Into His Image (siHi) is a curriculum focused on physical, spiritual, and emotional growth with weekly topics that address the issues many women struggle with or need encouragement in. During each 2 hour session we begin with a 30-40 minute workout together (i.e. walk, run, bootcamp or anything that gets the group moving!), and end with a topical group discussion. The first half of the study focuses on areas that we wrestle with, while the second half focuses on the fruits of the Spirit. This progression is designed to encourage women of all ages to look to Jesus through every season of their lives.
I went into siHi with expectations of "nice" workouts with "nice" ladies. What I got was an encounter with how my God wants me to see myself, as his daughter and a partner in building his kingdom. I learned that he wants us to feel secure. He wants us to take care of this body He has given us so that it can be at its best in order to take care of the people and responsibilities He has entrusted to us. In the process, I got to share with some great like minded women who are seeking the Lord and his purpose for their lives. I went in for a workout and walked out with new perspective which got me on the right track!
siHi helped me to fully understand who I am in God's eyes and that I am capable of accomplishing great things, both physically and spiritually, for His glory.
The siHi study was an integral part of the Lord speaking in to my spirit of how long, wide, deep, and high His love is for me! I am His daughter and I now reflect that because I know it. siHi was one of the catalysts that caused me to see God’s purpose for me — to lead and tell others —they are seen, heard, known, and loved by God!
It was my first step into freedom and I now experience His freedom daily!
In Jan 2015, I joined Stepping into His Image. I was new to the group and my worries were that I would feel uncomfortable. Truly my fears were never realized. The weekly workouts energized my body and mind. The weekly topics encouraged and challenged me spiritually. Each week I felt like God was speaking specifically to me. I was reminded of God’s love for me and that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. As we all do at times, body image and understanding God’s view of ourselves can become distorted, but SIHI helped me reflect daily through prayer and reading the Bible focused studies. I was reminded that God’s plan is good, ALL THE TIME. Through workouts, fellowship, and focus on God’s word, I was able to find a renewed connection with God.
Working out with like-minded women to Christian music was exhilarating. Each week I did the homework and got into an effortless daily routine of spending time with God. Being able to share my life with other women with a weekly topic structure made me realize that I am not alone and that God loves us all no matter what we do.
Being a leader for SIHI helped me grow spiritually. I learned so much from the ladies in my group. It was so awesome to see God work in each of their lives. Leading the ladies through SIHI helped me grow in my own relationship with God. I reminded myself that lasting change only comes from God and through a right relationship with Him, that change can and will happen.
Empowering women of all ages to have a Christ-like image of themselves both inside and out.
